The main characters in Old Man and the Sea are Santiago, a fisherman and Manolin, a boy who helps him.
Three adjectives that describe Santiago are 1) old 2) alone, 3) poor. He is thin and gaunt with deep wrinkles in the back of his neck (pp9~10). He lives alone and he lost his wife. He hides her photo behind the shelf because it makes him lonely. He is poor so he can not eat enough. He talked with the boy about yellow rice with fish (pp16), but this story is fiction.
Three adjectives that describe Manolin are 1) young 2) kind 3) a good friends of Santiago. He is young and he must obey his father. And he prepare sardines for Santiago everyday, moreover, he take care of Santiago's health.("Keep warm old man," the boy said. "Remember we are in September."...pp18) Manolin's father makes him leave from the old man but Manolin wants to stay with Santiago because he loves Santiago and Santiago loves him, too.
